Centerless Grinding
Ever Ready Grinding & Pin Mfg. has state-of-the art equipment in the production process and highly trained and experienced staff to care for all your needs for Centerless Production Grinding, a process that uses abrasive cutting to remove material from a workpiece in order to end in a cylindrical surface with a fine finish. Centerless Production Grinding does not use a spindle or fixture to locate or secure the workpiece – instead the workpiece is secured between one grinding wheel and one regulating wheel.
Ever Ready Grinding & Pin Mfg. has many years of grinding experience. We can serve your needs for Centerless Grinding in a number of ways, as we excel in Through-Feed Centerless Grinding and In-Feed Centerless Grinding.
THROUGH-FEED CENTERLESS GRINDING
Through-Feed Centerless Grinding can be a very efficient process if you require parts with simple cylindrical shapes. Through-Feed Centerless Grinding involves feeding a workpiece through grinding wheels, entering on one side and exiting on the opposite side. The regulating wheel in Through-Feed Centerless Grinding is canted away from the grinding wheel’s plane so it provides a lateral force component as the workpiece is fed through the two wheels. Through-Feed Centerless Grinding doesn’t require a separate feed mechanism, which makes the process more efficient and less expensive. While it is an effective solution for simple cylindrical shapes, more complex shapes could benefit from using In-Feed Centerless Grinding.
IN-FEED CENTERLESS GRINDING
In-Feed Centerless Grinding is the right process to use if you need to manufacture relatively complex shapes, such as an hourglass shape. In-Feed Centerless Grinding involves manually loading a workpiece into the grinding machine and then moving a regulating wheel into place. Because the part shapes and grinding wheels needed to grind them are complex, the piece cannot simply be fed into the machine at one end and exit at the opposite end.
